My Birthday Gifts

My Birthday recently came and went. It always seems to go so fast. I think it is because of the holidays and how soon it comes after Xmas. Everything is a blur for me from Thanksgiving to Feb! I am so blessed to have wonderful family members and friends in my life. Here are some of the gifts I recieved. Dont you just love the knitting bag! It is from Michaels. The fleece blanket was made by a nurse co-worker and her daughter by taking two large pieces of fleece material and tying them together at all ends. Just a beautiful blanket that is nice and warm! My daughter and I plan to make one as well. The picture station goes along well with the Sony Cyber-shot camera I got for Xmas. I do love my toys! Plus my husband got me a new HP Media Center Computer for Xmas as well. I have a wonderful, wonderful husband. He puts up with alot of my quirky ways! Knitting wise, I am almost done with the Sandy Cardigan. I had to re-knit the sleeves as one of them was just too big. I started to just leave it but then I figured I should do it right with all the hard work I have put into it. I am very close to finishing my husbands socks and another one of the Yarn Harlots "One row " scarves. Please check http://www.yarnharlot.com/ for further info on this scarf. I just love it!!

Projects 08

I am a neverending scarf knitter. I love knitting scarves for some reason. I love finding new and interesting lace or texture stitch scarf patterns. This is a simple one from the "Yarn Harlot" I found on Ravelry(by the way , I am alexknits on ravelry). It is a free pattern called "Simple Handspun Scarf" something close to that. Any it is a multiple of 4. You knit 2, knit tbl, purl 1. You do this until your little heart is content with the length and bind off. I used size 10 needles and worsted weight wool yarn. I am on my 3rd or 4th one. I love this pattern and it looks so nice. Everyone seems to love it. Working on a sock for my husband who always has cold feet! pictures soon.

Projects

I would love to knit this lace scarf, just need to find the time!! I already have a long list of projects on a must do list.

The Sandy Cardigan

I have been working on this Cardigan since last spring. I was going to wear it to stitches MDW in 2007 but did not finish it. I am determined to finish it this year to wear on the Canadian Fall Folige Knitting Cruise I am going on Sept 1, 2008. This is the Sandy Cardigan from" The Big Girl Knits" knitting book. It has been a challenging pattern for me and I am recieving help from my knitting instructor Nancy Lindman at Depth of Field knitting shop. I could not finish this without her. My patience with this project has really been tested and now its time to finish up! Soon! I am planning to wind this up in the next few weeks. In the mean time I am planning my next project which is going to be "Bettna " from One of the Noro yarn books. I will post pictures later. I am still trying to figure things out.

Winter Blooms

I love winter blooms. I try and buy a couple of Poinsettia plants and an Amarylis every holiday season. They Amarylis is not quite done opening up yet. I post another picture of it when it is in full bloom. Not sure how long I will be able to keep these babies going but I am trying!

Dishwasher

This came today! We have been going back and forth about wheter to get a new dishwasher. Our old simply was not cleaning the dishes anymore. Honest to god it wasnt. I am reminded of the commericals where people are trying to break the current appliance so they can get a new one. Not me, the dishwasher came with the house. It is at least 15 years old I bet. The new one looks, works and sounds great. Maybe I will help out with dishes more! What do think!

Stash 08

Is this a reason to start knitting from your stash or what! I will publish more pictures of my beautiful yarn as reminders to myself and to you lovely knitters that we are so blessed to have knitting and YARN!!!!!

Before and After Pictures

Here they are!

Gastric Bypass

I had a gastric bypass May 14, 2007. I weighed 280lbs starting out. Today I am 186 lbs. It is so unbelievable to me. I feel 100% better. No more knee pain and very minimal back pain now. No complications, so far i could be the poster child for gastric bypass surgery. I had the laprascopic RNY done. I was back to work within a month and did very well. I had the surgery on a Monday and was in my own bed by Tuesday night. My surgeon was Dr. Jeff Baker at Unity. What a wonderful team they have. I am so satisfied with the care I recieved. My life has changed so much for the better. I love all the energy and motiviation I have now. Before I was always so lethargic and sluggish. I was even out riding my bike this summmer. I plan on getting a new bike this year. It is hard for me to publish these before and after pictures of myself but I have to face it sometime I guess. Here goes!

Knitting

I knit something very special this Xmas. It was a scarf for my granddaughter Wynter. The scarf had to be one that would wrap around her little face and mouth for sledding. Isnt she gorgeous!

Meet Sasha

Finally, I fiqured this thing out. This is not the best picture of Sasha but it will do for now!

Pictures

I am still trying to get pictures scanned into the computer and onto my blog. I would like to introduce Sasha my cat and owner. We love her to death and she is definitely spoiled and has Bob and I trained!

New Blogger

I cant believe I finally did this. I have been wanting to set up a blog for myself for quite sometime and just never took the time to do it. It was very, very easy and didnt take much time at all. The hardest part was trying to think of a name for this blog. I am excited to get started, however I have to learn all the in's and out's of posting picture's etc... Until then, Knit on!
